We have a new and exciting opportunity to join Education Scotland's Information Security team as our first Cyber Security Graduate Apprentice. Education Scotland is the national improvement agency for Scottish education. We are an executive agency of the Scottish Government with a role to promote improvement through inspection and review, innovation and change, and providing support and challenge to the whole of the education system from early years to adult learning. We have a bold digital programme of work to deliver. This includes Glow, the national online digital platform for education, which includes the largest Microsoft 365 tenancy in western Europe. We also have a corporate digital systems programme with a wide variety of technology applications in use across our organisation which enable our staff to deliver for our education stakeholders. In this role you will be working within a fast-paced Information Security environment. You will gain valuable industry experience by helping us to drive forward the implementation of an ambitious Information and Cyber Security programme. In time you become a highly effective Information Security professional. What will I learn? Alongside this role, you will have the opportunity of formalising your learning by working towards achieving your BSc (Hons) Degree in Cyber Security from Glasgow Caledonian University. This is a degree programme which you will undertake over four years. You will be supported throughout by Education Scotland. After successfully achieving your degree, your role will convert into an Information Security Officer at the same grade. Once you have completed your degree you will be eligible to apply for a promoted role within Education Scotland. Information and cyber security is a fast moving and an exciting area of work. You will be employed by Education Scotland as a Cyber Security Graduate Apprentice with a highly competitive starting salary of £21,045. This post has a competitive salary range of £21,045 up to £23,233, commencing on £21,045. There are annual increments (eligibility after probation period and thereafter meeting performance criteria) that will allow for salary to incrementally increase up to the maximum amount for that band. During term time you will spend one day a week on the university campus to attend classes and exams You will be supported with work-based learning projects during your time at university and we will provide you with a mentor. To meet the academic criteria for admission to the Graduate Apprenticeship BSc Cyber Security course at Glasgow Caledonian University which is 4 "B" Higher Grades (or equivalent), including maths or computing, or an HNC or HND in Computing/Networking or Cyber Security.
