Job Description

Our graduate programme is a 21 month rotational scheme (with potential to be extended by up to 6 months), undertaking three diverse placements of 9, 6 and 6 months duration.  These are located at our Millbrook, Bedford and Leyland, Preston sites.  The placements will provide you with the opportunity to work and learn alongside our world-class engineers and technicians in a number of different operational departments.  You’ll directly interface with a range of Customers and experience how UTAC’s capabilities helps to solve some of their biggest challenges.

The programme commences in mid-September, provides a dedicated mentor and Programme Manager, support and funds IMechE/Professional body accreditation where relevant.

Graduates apply for a permanent position within the business at the end of the programme.  Career progression is facilitated with programme alumni rapidly expanding their professional skills and experience enabling opportunities to excel in role, move laterally or upwards in the UTAC Group.

Electrification and Battery Testing

We support any size of electric driveline development programme, providing customers a ‘one-stop shop’ solution, whether it’s a full suite of EV battery tests or completing a design verification plan (DVP) for an electric drive system.

Within our Future Technology departments you will be at the cutting-edge of changes in the Industry, learning and applying your expertise to on-going commercial projects in Electric Powertrain Test systems, Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Battery Testing and other Alternative Fuel prototype services.

Powertrain

We are also to the forefront of powertrain performance, consumption, range and clean fuel technology development.

We will help you gain confidence to run test programmes and work with you to develop your understanding of each area of propulsion, from emissions to battery testing.

Vehicle Components

Helping our customers to be uncompromising on vehicle quality.  Applying problem solving skills and years of test experience to deliver accurate, actionable results.

As part of the vehicle team, you will be trusted to run projects and relied on to streamline processes.  Whether you are working on an EV battery, durability programme or validating the dynamic performance of a vehicle system and components, you will be learning on the job and receive full support.

Special Vehicles 

Special Vehicles, part of the UTAC group, is a leading expert in vehicle conversions, engineering vehicles with enhanced capabilities, including discreet protection for armoured vehicles, systems integration and reduced emissions.  It offers bespoke prototype modifications and small series production from a secure site and uses Millbrook Proving Ground’s test tracks in the UK to develop platforms.

You will be working with, and learning from a team that has extensive skills in systems integration, ballistic protection, powertrain modifications and vehicle dynamics.
