About the Role:We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual Graduate Systems and Network Engineer to join our Technology team. This unique opportunity is a 12-month rotation programme, with the first 6 months in the systems engineering team and the subsequent 6 months in the network engineering team. Upon successful completion of the rotation, you will be placed within one of the teams where you’ll play an integral part.

First rotation: Systems Engineering Team

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of on-premises and cloud-based servers, storage systems, and virtualisation technologies.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Implement system updates, patches, and security fixes under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage systems, and virtualisation technologies.
  • Provide assistance to end-users, including troubleshooting systems related issues and assisting with configurations.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline system deployment, configuration, and management.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance standards to protect systems and data from security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Document support processes and contribute to the development of knowledge base articles.

 

Second rotation: Network Engineering Team

  • Assist in designing and planning network architectures, including LANs, WANs, WLANs, and data centre networks
  • Assist in implementing and configuring network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points
  • Monitor network performance and availability using network monitoring tools and platforms
  • Troubleshoot network issues, diagnose problems, and implement solutions to resolve network outages, performance issues, and connectivity problems
  • Implement network security best practices and compliance standards to protect network infrastructure and data from security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, procedures, and operational guidelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers and software developers, to support project initiatives and resolve technical challenges

Requirements

  • Minimum of an upper Second-Class Bachelor's degree/Integrated Masters in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
  • Relevant experience gained through academic or work placements activities.
  • Strong interest in technology and computing
  • Proficiency in written, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid organisational skills, ability to multi-task, and thriving in meeting deadlines within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell or Python.
  • Curious mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Displays and operates at the highest degree of ethics and integrity.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
