Our client secondary school in Cwmbran have asked us for two full time teaching assistants to support their pupils on a one to one basis until the end of the academic year. There has been a shuffle within the support department after a managed moved for two pupils with full time funding. Psychology graduates have worked extremely well as teaching assistants supporting pupils with learning difficulties and behaviour problems in the past which is why the Headteacher is keen to continue that trend.
The teaching assistant role:
- Work with children on a 1:1 basis that struggle with their behaviour/learning
- Support them through the core subjects
- Use your psychology degree to nurture and become a role model!
What you need:
- A proactive attitude to work with children at a secondary school age
- Confident personality and aren't phased by disruptive behaviour
- 2 professional references
- Enhanced DBS - assistance provided
You will be joining a large support department that are constantly providing training and guidance. The school are looking for someone to invest in who can really make a difference to these pupils lives. This is an excellent opportunity to use Skinners operant conditioning and reinforce positives behaviours whilst supporting the students.
The role is to start 18th January unless the lockdown is continued. The school runs as a HUB to support the key worker and vulnerable children so there will be an opportunity to meet the team and become familiar with your surroundings.
