SRG is working with a brilliant company in Manchester who create and develop speciality chemicals for use in smart materials and other niche products. Their technical team is now looking for a QC Chemist to join the team initially on a temporary basis, with a view to becoming permanent. The role will involve analysing a range of raw materials and synthesised products using HPLC, UV-Vis, IR and other standard bench chemistry techniques. This role is available immediately so the successful applicant will need to be able to start immediately or with short notice. Benefits: 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays per annum and 37.5 working hours per week, 8.30am to 4.40pm, Monday - Friday. Full training will be provided and excellent potential to move to a permanent contract, depending on performance.

Role / Description

  • Following Standard Operating Procedures to conduct QC analysis on synthesised samples and raw materials
  • Using chemical techniques such as UV-Vis, IR, HPLC, titrations, Karl-Fischer analysis, melting point and colorimetry
  • Updating and maintaining QC spreadsheets, reporting results and producing Certificates of Analysis (CoAs)
  • Supporting R&D in an analytical capacity
  • Preparation of chemicals for third party testing or shipment to customers
  • Travelling to local warehouses and facilities to collect and sample raw materials in storage
  • Assisting in general lab housekeeping and working safely in line with COSHH and H&S requirements

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry or similar
  • Available immediately or with short (1-2 weeks') notice
  • Practical laboratory experience gained from university or industry
