Our client, a leading Civil Engineering Consultancy specialising in Transport Planning and Highway Design, have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Transport Planner to join their team at their Farnborough office.

As a well-established, market-leading consultancy offering a 'one-stop' solution for all aspects of development transport assessment and planning, S278/38 highways scheme design, drainage, environmental planning, scheme implementation and ongoing operation, they operate throughout the UK assisting their diverse clientele with a range of interesting projects, from houses to hotels, racetracks to restaurants or schools to sports grounds, we are working on them all!

They are committed to supporting and inspiring each other and due to continued exceptional workloads they are looking for a Graduate with a genuine enthusiasm for Transport Planning to join their fast growing team based in Farnborough.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the technical excellence of the team. In return, they will be given the support and guidance required and the opportunity to experience a variety of interesting and diverse projects across the country.

Main Duties of the Graduate Transport Planner:

  • Preparation of Transport Assessments and Statements to support a variety of developments
  • Preparation of the associated Travel Plans, as well as acting as the ongoing Travel Plan Coordinator for our sites
  • Preparation and presentation of technical data and drawings
  • Undertaking junction capacity assessments using ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG
  • Liaison with clients, contractors and local / national authorities as required
  • Undertaking site visits and attendance at client meetings, workshops and consultation events
  • Assistance with other traffic / transport related tasks

Education/ Experience required:

  • A Degree in an applicable analytical subject - for example Transport Planning, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, etc
  • An understanding /experience of UK planning standards and processes
  • A Master's degree in a relevant subject is desirable, but is not essential.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office software packages
  • Good levels of numeracy, including a good understanding of spreadsheets
  • Working experience / understanding of ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG
  • Use of AutoCAD (desirable, but not essential)


  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to clearly communicate findings from complex data
  • Ability to work easily and accurately with numbers
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think 'outside of the box'
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to manage own workload
  • Approachable and professional manner when dealing with colleagues and clients
