  The Company

Our client, a leading construction company with offices located in the South East and North of England, is currently seeking a highly motivated Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The company operates in various sectors, including Retail, Living Space & Hospitality, Commercial, and Distribution, specialising in Construction Management, Design and Build, and Traditional Contracting.

As leading experts, they are positioned to lead new builds, fit-outs, full refurbishments and fast-track acquisitions. They offer Construction Management Services across Retail (Safe storage, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer's), Commercial and Living Space projects to an increasing number of high-profile clients.

The successful candidate will receive ongoing training and support, enabling them to develop their skills and progress within the company. They will also have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
  • Evaluate and price variations in the contract.
  • Analyze drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
  • Identify potential cost-saving measures and provide recommendations to the project team.
  • Monitor and control costs throughout the project, ensuring that budgets are adhered to.
  • Measure and value the work done on-site.
  • Prepare and submit interim and final payment applications.
  • Prepare cost reports and financial statements.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant software such as Excel, Word, and industry-specific software.
