Are you looking to start your career?

Are you curious, numerate, keen to learn, a self-motivated team player who loves reading and researching, who can develop ideas into strong proposals backed by data?

Whether or not you've considered working in Financial Services, at Border to Coast we believe investment skills can be taught. Diverse thinking is essential for great investment outcomes, so we encourage applications from all degree backgrounds – our only pre-requisite is that you have an interest in Investments.

Border to Coast has opened applications for its 2024 Graduate programme, starting in September. The programme provides a solid foundation for a career in investment management – and we’re looking for individuals that are excited by a challenge and ready to make an impact.

About our programme:

The Border to Coast graduate programme is focused on developing your knowledge, skills and behaviours in different areas of investment to support our purpose to make a difference to our Partner Funds’ investment outcomes.

Graduates will be immersed in and gain hands-on experience of multiple investment concepts and teams to build skills, knowledge of the industry, what our Customers need and how to develop your ideas into compelling proposals. This includes Investment Research, External Management, Client Relationship Management, Alternative Investment, and Portfolio Risk. You will work alongside colleagues with a wealth of experience in each field and have support throughout the programme to set you on the path for success.

Personal and professional development are key features of the programme. We provide opportunities for you to further your development with on-the-job training and formal qualification opportunities that complement the programme – namely the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) Level 1 and 2, and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Levels 1, 2 and 3.

Following your completion of the graduate programme you will take up a permanent role with Border to Coast. We are committed to ongoing people development, supporting your continuing career progression within the organisation.

Application deadline: Friday 10th May 2024

The recruitment process will include an in-person assessment centre in June 2024 - date to be confirmed, at our office in the heart of Leeds. Candidates being considered will need to be available for this.

About Us:

Border to Coast Pensions Partnership is an award-winning asset manager which pools pension investments of 11 Local Government Pension Funds (our ‘Partner Funds’) with a total asset value of c. £60 billion (as of 31st March 2023). Responsible Investment runs through all that we do and we are an active steward of our Partner Fund’s assets. As a long-term and responsible investor, we have a duty to ensure our investments are well-positioned to manage the physical climate risks, regulations, and policies that are developed to promote a Net Zero economy. Being an active investor, we have the skills and capabilities to deliver investments that will support the necessary transition to Net Zero. We engage with companies on their behalf to drive positive real world change in the belief that this is the best way to both mitigate material financial risks, and unlock greater long term value. We are an FCA regulated investment company created to pool the investments of like-minded Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds. Established in 2018, we are one of the largest LGPS pools in the UK. Located in the heart of Leeds, we strive to contribute to the local economy by creating investment roles outside of the traditional investment centres of London and Edinburgh.

Our purpose is to make a difference for the Local Government Pension Scheme. We seek to do this by providing cost-effective, innovative, and responsible investment opportunities that deliver returns over the long-term. This is on behalf of the more than one million LGPS members, over 2,700 employers, and the millions of taxpayers associated with our Partner Funds.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We have an open and supportive culture with a commitment to learning and valuing everyone’s skills and contribution.
