As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the construction industry, focusing on building costs and financial management. Your responsibilities will evolve over time, and you'll be involved in various aspects of project management. Here are the key duties associated with this role:

  1. Cost Estimation and Valuation:
    • Assist in pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying tasks.
    • Evaluate project costs, including materials, labour, and other expenses.
    • Prepare valuations and progress reports.
  2. Risk Analysis and Management:
    • Assess potential risks related to cost overruns, delays, and unforeseen issues.
    • Collaborate with project teams to mitigate risks and ensure financial stability.
  3. Budget Control and Monitoring:
    • Manage project budgets throughout the construction life cycle.
    • Monitor expenses, track variations, and ensure adherence to financial plans.
  4. Contract Administration:
    • Review and negotiate contracts with contractors, suppliers, and vendors.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  5. Client Communication:
    • Interact with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
    • Present findings, progress reports, and cost analyses to clients.
  6. Site Visits and Measurements:
    • Visit construction sites to assess progress and verify measurements.
    • Collaborate with site managers and engineers.
  7. Document Management:
    • Maintain accurate records of project-related documents, including invoices, bills, and contracts.
  8. Professional Development:
    • Continuously learn and develop your skills in quantity surveying.
    • Participate in training programs and industry seminars.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Excel, cost estimation software).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing project requirements.
