An exciting start-up business developing sustainable carbon-neutral fuels/materials is currently recruiting for a Graduate Chemist to join its team in Oxford on a permanent basis. As an R&D Chemist, you will play a vital role in scaling up their unique catalyst technology - which will involve design, synthesis and testing of the company's catalysts.
This role will suit a Master's degree-qualified Chemistry graduate coupled with industrial R&D experience - gained through a placement/sandwich year or post-graduate experience.
Graduate Chemist responsibilities
- Design, synthesis and testing of catalysts.
- Lab-based synthesis and industrial-manufacturing scale-up work.
- Collaborate with fellow Chemists and Engineers to identify improvements and p
- Conduct research studies.
- Troubleshoot various procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement, and innovation in the chemistry team to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
- Analysis of experimental data and writing of experimental reports
- Ensuring good lab practices including health & safety
Graduate Chemist requirements
- Master's Degree qualification (MSc, MSci, MChem) in Chemistry or closely related.
- Industrial experience operating within an R&D chemical laboratory.
- Experience of maintenance and fault finding of equipment
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations and procedures
- Good planning team communication and organisational skills
- A positive can-do attitude with a willingness to accept responsibility
- A flexible approach and the ability to communicate at all levels
- Able to work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team
- Experience of risk assessment COSHH Safe Systems of Work
£30k-£34k + 25 days annual leave + pension + medical insurance + potential share allocation
