Then look no further as my well-established client is looking out for an ambitious and ready-to-learn Graduate Civil Engineer, with a degree in Civil Engineering and/or relevant UK experience of minimum 1+ years' within underground structures, tunnelling and transportation design.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Developing designs and conducting structural analysis for tunnels, underground structures, foundations and groundworks considering factors such as soil mechanics, geology, hydrology, and environmental impacts.
  • Conducting site investigations to gather data on soil conditions, groundwater levels, and other relevant geological factors to inform the design process.
  • Overseeing the construction of tunnels and underground structures, ensuring that construction activities comply with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting in the development of project plans and schedules, including estimating costs, materials, and manpower requirements for tunneling and underground construction projects.
  • Collaborating with other engineers, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies to coordinate project activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Assessing the environmental impact of tunneling and underground construction projects and implementing measures to minimize environmental damage and ensure sustainability.
  • Communicating with clients to understand their requirements, provide project updates, and address any concerns or issues that may arise during the course of the project.

Successful candidate specifications:

  • Relevant degree in Civil Engineering (i.e. BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng/etc.). Preference will be given to candidates who are degree qualified with a MEng in Civil Engineering suitable for CEng status, but consideration will be given to candidates with an engineering related degree if they have relevant post-graduate experience.
  • Experience or demonstratable knowledge and interest in designing tunnelling, underground structures, groundworks, highways and drainage.
  • A good technical background and interest in the design of tunnels, underground structures, drainage, pavement design and highways
  • Experience of using relevant computer design and analysis softwares;
