Salary/Rate:
£25,000 - £32,000/annum outstanding package

This Junior/Graduate Controls Engineer position could easily be two roles; one for someone who has gained at least a years work experience within a related area of electrical engineering and another for someone with a HNC or ideally a degree.

In both cases you will be joining a company that specialises in the creation of highly energy efficient buildings that are within agriculture, research and by people with a particular interest in horticulture.

You will be trained in all aspects of working to the brief, producing a design, liaising with the installation team and being involved with commissioning. What makes this position particularly interesting is that you will remain involved with the projects beyond the commissioning as the company looks after servicing, maintenance and emergency repairs on an ongoing basis.

This will give you a unique insight in to the life of the systems that you work with and you will have an enviable knowledge of not just the controls, but the buildings as a whole.

If you are looking to join them as a Junior Engineer you will need to have a minimum 5 GCSE passes at grade C, preferably A or B, including Maths and at least 1 Science. You will also need to be studying a recognised electrical/electronics/controls course or part way through an electrical/controls apprenticeship at present.

You will also need to have some work experience, possibly as part of a controls/electrical apprenticeship, working as a control panel builder or even studying controls or electronics engineering.

The great thing about this post is that it is site based, so you will see everything from a hands on perspective while having the opportunity to be in the office and get an understanding of design, quotes and the back office side of the industry.

If you are a graduate with a HNC or a degree, the role will be more 50:50 between office and site where you will get the practical knowledge of installation coupled with learning about design of BMS systems, interfacing with existing facilities and also programming, fault diagnosis and repair.

Both positions will be eligible to join the companies on call rota that will see you receive an on call allowance in return for being available for the week to assist clients with out of hours difficulties, the majority of which can be resolved on the phone or by dialling in to the system.

The package with the role includes:

  • 25 days leave plus stats
  • Full training and support to help you develop in the role
  • Pension
  • Company vehicle/allowance (once you have joined the on call rota)

You will need to be located either within the immediate east Yorkshire area or within an easy commute of it. Similarly, a driving license is essential.
The salary range for the post is up to £32k depending upon your level of qualifications and experience.
