Elevation Recruitment are current working with an innovative, specialist product, manufacturing business based in Sheffield on their search for a talented Graduate Design Engineer to join the technical team. The Graduate/Junior Design Engineer will assist the product development team by contributing to the creation, improvement, and maintenance of technical designs, documentation, and processes. The role involves collaborating with multiple departments to ensure the effective delivery of engineering support and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Graduate Design Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:
  • 3D Modelling and Design Updates:
    Utilize 3D modelling software to modify and maintain parts and technical drawings as required.

  • Documentation Management:
    Ensure that all technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and work instructions, are accurate, current, and properly maintained.

  • Cross-Functional Support:
    Provide engineering support to various departments, including production, product management, quality assurance, sales and marketing, and customer service.

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
    Participate in value engineering and continuous improvement projects to enhance the efficiency and functionality of existing products and processes.

Graduate Design Engineer Education and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a similar field (or equivalent vocational qualification).
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems and components is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in 3D modelling software such as SolidWorks or similar tools.
    • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including mathematics, physics, and materials science.
    • Competent technical writing abilities.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Creative problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
    • Strong time management skills and a focus on task completion.
    • A proactive team player who contributes positively to team dynamics.
